Job Responsibilities:

• Provide input and guidance on data interfaces and contracts, and contribute to the design of scalable and efficient schemas for both columnar and relational databases.
• Perform routine programming assignments that require understanding and application of best practice ETL and Data Presentation procedures e.g. coding style, logging best practice, peer code reviews, automated test coverage, etc.
• Work with Engineering colleagues to ensure that modifications to the system and software architecture through project delivery are appropriate for operations, scalability, security, performance, deployment and maintenance.
• Definition of BDD feature files, implementation of automated test scenarios and generation of automated test execution reports to support a Continuous Delivery pipeline.
• Identify and escalate areas of risk, hazards and uncertainty that are encountered to promote knowledge share across all engineers.
• Translate business requirements to design, document, build and deploy effective ETL packages and Data Presentation formats.
• Participate in team refinement sessions and contribute to agile approach and practices.
• Actively contribute to the recruitment and succession planning for employees within engineering.
• Define, maintain and contribute towards business intelligence platform and customer documentation.
• Ensure script, configuration and code quality and efficiency is appropriate and improved upon, as well as technical standards and best practice guidelines are adhered to within the Engineering teams through peer reviews and feedback.
• Proactive in delivering continuous improvement initiatives and sharing learnings across all engineering teams.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

• A keen technologist, with a forward-thinking approach to the adoption and application of new technology.
• 2+ years of experience as a Business Intelligence Engineer.
• Strong decision making and problem-solving skills through collaboration and strong analytical ability, who puts the needs of customers first.
• Experience working with senior management, influencing and driving continuous improvement.
• Unit and Integration testing and knowledge of TDD or BDD.
• Experience of design and querying: Relational databases e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL databases e.g. DynamoDB, MongoDB, Columnar databases e.g. Redshift, Google BigQuery.
• Strong BI presentation skills in at least one of: Qlik Sense, Tableau, Power BI, Amazon Quicksight.
• Experience of the Agile software development lifecycle and DevOps delivery, including source control management, Continuous Integration, Continuous
• Delivery/Deployment and automated testing.
• Familiarity with AWS Lambda, S3, SQS, Git, HTML, CSS.
• Well organised, with a logical and methodical approach to planning – good time management is essential.
• Core development skills in data modelling, ETL, BI and data presentation/visualisation.
• Effective communication skills in English. Ability and eagerness to understand the business context where the team operates and the customer problems being solve.
• Strong ETL development skills in at least one of: Pentaho, Datastage, Informatica, AWS Glue, SSIS, Talend.
