The Tax Senior is responsible for all aspects of income tax compliance and planning. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Tax, the Tax Senior will also work on other various tax related projects as described below. The position is currently remote during the pandemic and will transition to a hybrid schedule in the future.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the company’s tax calendar to ensure all returns, extensions, and estimated payments are timely filed
- Research tax laws as needed using Bloomberg BNA
- Respond to tax notices from Federal and State tax agencies as needed
- Represent the company before various taxing authorities, providing all requested documents and data pertaining to Forever 21’s tax returns
- Consult with business units on tax issues as they arise, especially concerning new business development projects
- Manage all aspects of Federal and State tax compliance. Oversee the preparation of Federal (1065), State and City Partnership tax returns
- Prepare all Sch M workpapers and Federal proforma returns using OneSource Income Tax software
- Utilize technical tax expertise to assist the Sr. Manager in strategic tax planning and corporate restructuring projects
- Assist the Sr. Manager in various projects including WOTC, Employment Retention Credit, Local Sales Tax Incentives, and Unclaimed Property compliance
- Prepare monthly income tax journal entries for the accounting department
- Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Must have strong written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Must have 3-5 years of relevant tax experience, experience in public accounting preferred
- Must have a Bachelors in Accounting, Business, Finance or Taxation
- Experience in Sage Fixed Assets software a plus
- CPA certification preferred but not required
- Experience in OneSource Income Tax software strongly preferred
- Must have working level knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
